● General guidance 　 　 Gifu located in the center of Japan,can trace its history as a "free market society"back to the Shogunate Oda Nobunaga. Gifu's "free market" flourished in an unrestricted atmosphere where people,things and information came together. The Nagaragawa Convention Center was established as "the free market of our times", an inspirational building brimming with international exchange as people from all over the world meet with residents of Gifu. Mr.Tadao Ando, a world-renown architect,designed the convention center. Borrowing the natural beauty of the Nagara River and Mt. Kinka, two symbols of Gifu, it has a unique form featuring steps leading to the rooftop garden and four glass towers which let sunlight flow into the Citizens Gallery. The main hall has a movable floor which can be reconfigured for many different types of conventions and events. The Nagaragawa Convention Center is located next to the beautiful Nagara River. The Gifu Memorial Center, Nagaragawa Sports Plaza and Mirai Hall, three separate facilities are located in the area surrounding the convention center. A wide array of accommodations ranging from world class hotels and Japanese style inns to various hotels with hot springs are available for visitors.
